Key Stage 3

All students do Physical Education as a non-exam subject in years 8, 9 and 10. Activities include athletics, dance, games, gymnastics and swimming.

Key Stage 4

All students do Physical Education as a non-exam subject in years 11 and 12. Activites are based on experience gained at Key Stage 3 with the opportunity tp broaden knowledge and practical skills through activities such as Health Related P.E. Activites included aerobics, weight training, jogging, yoga and games.

Pupils may opt to do PE as a GCSE subject. The course consists of both a practical and a theoretical component. The theory comprises the three themes of: Preparation and evaluation of lifestyle with regard to health; Preparation for and evaluation of performance in sport and Participation in and provision for physical education, physical preparation and sport. Categories of practical activities include: Athletics, Dance, Fitness Training, Games, Gymnastics, Outdoor activities and swimming.

Post 16

Pupils may opt to do PE as an ‘AS’ or ‘A’ Level subject. The course consists of both a practical and a theoretical component. The main focus is the performer and performance and the multi-disciplinary character of the course should ensure that students find the syllabus very interesting. AS with GCSE there is a strong practical assessment which includes both an individual activity and a game activity.
