The medical facility within the college is centrally located and is run by a qualified nurse.The school nurse runs the unit as a drop in unit where students can call in anytime.Responsibilities of the school nurse include
· Dealing with sick and injured pupils.
· Catering for the needs of students with specific diagnosed conditions.
· Liaising with members of staff re-specific conditions and management of same.
· Administration and storage of prescribed medications.
· Health education and promotion in the classroom setting i.e. Nut Allergy, Swine Flu, Personal Hygiene and other topical material.
· Liaising with the counselling team within the college.
· Co ordination of statutory health programmes and liaising with the Belfast Health & Social Care Trust.

- Prevents the spread of infection both at home and school
