 Music
Over 100 students take private tuition with our visiting tutors in violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, horn tuba, guitar, percussion and singing.  Theory classes are offered to all of these students.

The music department is a vibrant place to be and lunchtimes and after school sessions are dominated by rehearsals.  Junior, Junior Boys and senior choirs meet at lunch times, the chamber choir after school and at lunchtime, while junior and senior orchestras have after school rehearsal times.  The traditional group practises at lunchtime and the folk group, who provide music for our liturgical celebrations, meet at break and lunch times.

The above groups perform at such occasions as prizegiving, open days, Christmas concerts and the annual college concert before Easter.  In addition many gain valuable experience performing outside school at venues such as homes for the elderly and special schools.  In the past our traditional group has played at Hillsborough Castle and the chamber choir sang in Belfast’s Waterfront Hall as well as being runners-up in SEELB heats of the UTV School Choir of the Year Competition.
