It is the policy of Our Lady and St. Patrick’s College, Knock to keep the premises of the College free from drugs and to protect students from the scourge of illegal drugs while they are under the care of teachers. 

Consequently the Pastoral Care programme will include information on drugs and drug abuse, and on, Alcohol, Solvent and Tobacco abuse so that all students will have a clear understanding of the grave dangers involved in the taking of drugs.

Students will also be made aware of the consequences of bringing drugs to the College. Counselling and support are available to students through the Pastoral Care programme.  Parents are encouraged to take an interest in the Pastoral Care programme especially in relation to drugs. Advice is given to parents on the type of drugs available, on how to recognise the signs of drug taking and on the ways in which they can best deal with the problem.

1.   Illegal Drugs

Should any student be found to be in possession of illegal drugs while at the College, or travelling to or from the College, or while under the care of teachers , immediate disciplinary action will be taken.

    1) The student in question will be suspended.

    2) Police authorities, in accordance with the Law, will be notified.

    3)  He/she will be recommended for immediate expulsion.

2.   Solvents

It is the policy of Our Lady and St. Patrick’s College, Knock to forbid students to have in their possession any solvent, unless prior permission has been granted.  It is also forbidden to sniff solvents while going to or from the College or under the care of teachers.

Should any student break the rule re. solvents immediate disciplinary action will be taken.

    1) The student in question will be suspended.

    2) The Police will be informed.

    3) He/she will be recommended for immediate expulsion.

3.   Alcohol

It is the policy of Our Lady and St. Patrick’s College, Knock to forbid students to have in their possession or to consume alcohol while going to or from the College or while under the care of teachers. Should any student break the rule re. alcohol immediate disciplinary action will be taken.

    1) The student in question will be suspended.

    2) He/she may be recommended for expulsion
